Last time I went there is before COVID, even then the quality of food and service was getting worse with each visit. They used to be the champ, serving Kobe beef. Lamb chop. Wellington on gourmet night. Last time I was there they got a cheap self serve coffee machine. I decide to stop going there after that.

None of the MGM buffets are getting good reviews. Luxor, Excalibur and MGM Grand just get hotel guests eating there because it’s convenient. Bellagio Buffet and Cosmo Whicked Spoon used to attract outside visitors for their quality of food, but can’t compete with Caesars Bacchanal and Wynn buffet. Palms A.Y.C.E. also keeps attracting crowds even after the recent price increase.

Bellagio has to get back to their former quality when they were serving king crab legs and caviar. Best deal there now is to show up around 12:30, pay the brunch price, grab some breakfast items and then get the crab and other dinner items at 1.

Are Buffets really loss leaders? Example: My wife and I went to the Palms for the Buffet. We lost $400 in the casino. Without the buffet, we would have not gone there. Locals like buffets!

Just like entertainment, food should be used as a “lost leader” to entice people to visit your casino. do think buffets were profitable 30 years ago?, of course not. so you lose a little money on food, one good (losing) gambler could fix that. Corporate is so fixated on every dept making money, they can’t see the forest for the trees. Casinos we’re once the funnest places to visit in the world, now I don’t even put them in the top ten thanks to corporate CFO’s. Vegas is fading away and it won’t be long before the ship completely sinks.
