I totally agree Johnny. I first ate at the Rio buffet in 1993. It was always the one that every other casino on the Strip aspired to be. And then in the last few years things kinda went downhill. It was still okay to good, depending upon what dishes they had. They cut back a lot. And a lot of other buffets caught up and surpassed them. But I will fondly remember them for being the biggest and best for over 20 years. And that very first visit I also won playing Keno while eating at the buffet. I’ve been a loyal Rio (Harrah’s) customer. When they bought out the Park Place or Caesar’s Group of casinos, the Rio was always my home property. I’ve stayed at nearly every casino in Vegas, but the Rio still holds a lot of special memories for me and my friends.
]]>That was quite the buffet, world-wide cuisine. The entire hotel was a very popular destination in the mid- to late 90s. Remember when it was built, it had the lasers atop the roof directed parallel to the ground? I think aviation rules caused it to be discontinued. Another “back in the day” entry.
