Mob-Con Convention Hosts Made Men and Lawmen
Said to be the first of its kind, the Mob-Con convention will bring together former mobsters and law enforcement agents to talk about life in the underworld. The gathering takes place Sep. 7-8, 2013 at Palace Station, a few minutes from The Strip.
The mob has a long and bullet-riddled history in Las Vegas, of course, so Mob-Con appears to be a natural fit for Sin City.
Thankfully, the good guys outnumber the former bad guys at Mob-Con. We always cringe a little bit when we hear about mob-centric events due to the potential for glamorizing crime and criminals, but as downtown’s epic Mob Museum (whence the photos in this post come) has shown, such offerings can provide an even-handed presentation of a fascinating world many of us only know from movies and TV shows.
Mob-Con will feature panel discussions, Q&A sessions, prize giveaways and a meet-and-whack party. Greet. Meet-and-greet party.
There will also be surprise guests, several of whom are likely to have colorful nicknames.
Our top five all-time favorite mob guy nicknames: 1) Cheesebox (Mickey Callahan), 2) Teets (Sam Battaglia), 3) Louie Ha Ha (Louis Attanasio), 4) Tony Tea Bags (Anthony LoPinto) and 5) Snorky (Al Capone).
The Mob-Con convention costs $195 for two days of “the life,” which amounts to just $125 after the “skim.” It’s $230 at the door.
Tickets to Mob-Con also include a Vegas Mob tour, a four-hour guided tour around Las Vegas.
Only in Vegas, baby.
