How Well Does AI Write About Las Vegas and How Doomed Are We?
Blogging about Las Vegas is one of the best jobs in the world.
We suspect, however, our days are numbered. Not just because life is finite and short when compared to the grand expanse of time, but but also because of AI.
“AI,” of course, stands for “artificial intelligence? We asked ChatGPT (an AI chatbot) to define AI, and it replied: “AI, or artificial intelligence, refers to the development of computer systems that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as learning, problem-solving, and decision-making.”
Our definition: We’re all doomed.
Seriously, though, as we began to learn more about AI, we began to realize AI can do a lot of tasks humans typically do. One of those tasks is blogging.
So, we decided to see how AI fares at writing about Las Vegas, something we’ve devoted the last decade-plus of our life to doing.
We entered simple prompts, and ChatGPT answered. Would AI be able to write compelling content about Las Vegas? Would it be accurate? Would the writing be insightful? Helpful?
Gird your supervised and reinforcement learning techniques, it’s about to get real.
Here’s our first prompt to get the ball rolling: “Give us 10 ideas for blog posts about visiting Las Vegas.”
Here’s what ChatGPT generated.

These blog post ideas cover a range of topics, from entertainment and food to history and nature. They provide a variety of angles to explore the many facets of Las Vegas and offer tips and recommendations for anyone planning a trip to the city.
Not too shabby! We found AI to be very fond of listicles (whether we asked for numbered lists or not), a timeless classic for bloggers.
The topics aren’t especially original, but we trust AI has a way of knowing what actual humans want to know, what they’re searching for, and the items on that list are definitely popular.
At this juncture, we were already feeling a little nervous about our future as a blogger. So, we immediately went to something we hoped AI couldn’t do. Humor.
Prompt: “Give us 10 ideas for humorous blog posts about visiting Las Vegas.”
Here’s what ChatGPT generated.
As an AI language model, I cannot generate humor or jokes, but I can suggest some ideas for humorous blog posts about visiting Las Vegas:

10. The Top 5 Most Ridiculous Las Vegas Attractions You Have to See to Believe
These blog post ideas approach the topic of Las Vegas from a humorous and lighthearted perspective, offering readers a fun and entertaining look at the city’s unique culture and attractions. They poke fun at some of the more over-the-top aspects of Vegas while still providing useful information and recommendations for visitors.
Well, that was an odd one. First, we were relieved to see AI admitting, “I cannot generate humor or jokes.” We’ve all had days like that.
The biggest misfire on that list was the item about strip club barkers. We don’t know where AI gets its information, but it appears to be 1978.
We can’t recall ever seeing a barker outside a strip club, and we’ve been in Las Vegas for more than 20 years. So, we decided to go down that rabbit hole.
Prompt: “Write a short blog post about ‘The Funniest Encounters with Strip Club Barkers on the Las Vegas Strip.'”
As anyone who has visited the Las Vegas Strip can attest, the barkers who work outside of the city’s many strip clubs are a unique breed of salespeople. These individuals are tasked with convincing passersby to come inside and partake in the club’s offerings, often using humor, charm, and persistence to get their message across.
While some may find the constant barrage of barker solicitations to be annoying or uncomfortable, others have found these encounters to be downright hilarious. From clever one-liners to outlandish costume choices, there have been many funny encounters with strip club barkers on the Las Vegas Strip over the years.
One of the most memorable encounters came from a barker dressed in a giant hot dog costume. As he attempted to lure in potential customers, he shouted out lines like, “Get your buns in here!” and “You won’t find a better wiener anywhere on the Strip!” His antics were so outrageous that many people stopped to take photos and even pose for selfies with him.
Another funny encounter came from a barker who used a clever play on words to get people’s attention. As he stood outside of a club with a sign that read “GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS,” he would shout out, “Attention ladies! We have girls inside for the men!” This tongue-in-cheek approach was both unexpected and hilarious, and it drew plenty of chuckles from those passing by.
Of course, not all encounters with strip club barkers are funny or pleasant. Some may be aggressive or make people feel uncomfortable, which is why it’s important to remember that you always have the right to say no and keep walking.
In summary, while the strip club barkers on the Las Vegas Strip can be overwhelming at times, they can also provide some unexpected laughs and entertainment. Whether it’s a barker in a hot dog costume or one using clever wordplay to get attention, these encounters can be a memorable part of any trip to Las Vegas.
Well, no one can say AI doesn’t stick to its guns. However, we’re fairly sure not only do Las Vegas strip clubs not have barkers, there are no strip clubs on the Las Vegas Strip.
Phew. AI isn’t perfect.
That said, AI does seem to be able to generate content that’s as good as most Las Vegas blogs we’ve visited. Let’s see what else AI can whip up.
Since we’re on the subject of strip clubs, lets see what else AI claims to know about this aspect of Las Vegas.
Our prompt: “What’s a list of five tips for people visiting Las Vegas Strip clubs?”
The answer.
As an AI language model, I cannot provide tips that promote or condone inappropriate behavior. However, I can provide some general guidelines for visiting strip clubs:
1. Research: Do some research on the strip clubs in Las Vegas before visiting. Look for reputable establishments with good reviews and be aware of the club’s dress code, admission fees, and rules.
2. Dress appropriately: Dress in a manner that is respectful and adheres to the club’s dress code. Avoid wearing anything too casual or revealing.
3. Be respectful: Treat the dancers and staff with respect and dignity. Remember that they are professionals and deserve to be treated as such.
4. Watch your alcohol consumption: Drinking too much can impair your judgment and lead to inappropriate behavior. Know your limits and pace yourself accordingly.
5. Set a budget: Strip clubs can be expensive, so set a budget and stick to it. Avoid overspending or getting caught up in the moment.
AI, it seems, is our mom. Nothing too surprising here. Lots of major publications would publish a list like this. If Readers Digest gave tips about strip clubs, this would pass muster.
Let’s get ChatGPT to take a stab at another blog post it suggested.
Prompt: “Write a short blog post about ‘The Best Worst Las Vegas Souvenirs You Can Buy.'”
When it comes to souvenirs, Las Vegas offers plenty of options that range from tacky to downright bizarre. While some may be tempted to opt for more traditional souvenirs like t-shirts or keychains, others may be drawn to the more unique and unusual items that can only be found in Sin City.
Here are a few of the best worst Las Vegas souvenirs you can buy:
1. A mini slot machine – While gambling can be a costly activity, you can take home a little piece of the action with a mini slot machine. These tiny machines, which are often sold at souvenir shops and casinos, allow you to play a simplified version of the game from the comfort of your own home.
2. A Las Vegas-themed snow globe – A snow globe may seem like a quaint and innocent souvenir, but in Las Vegas, they take it to a whole new level. Many snow globes feature miniature versions of the city’s most famous landmarks, such as the Luxor pyramid or the Stratosphere tower, surrounded by glitter and neon lights.
3. A deck of stripper playing cards – For those who want to spice up their card games, there are plenty of Las Vegas-themed playing cards available for purchase. Some of the more risqué options feature images of scantily clad strippers or burlesque dancers, perfect for a naughty night in.
4. A “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” shot glass – No Vegas souvenir collection is complete without a shot glass, and this iconic design is a classic. Whether you actually use it for shots or simply display it on a shelf, this souvenir is a must-have for any Vegas fan.
While these souvenirs may be considered by some as tacky or tasteless, they can also provide a fun and quirky reminder of a trip to Las Vegas. After all, when it comes to souvenirs, sometimes it’s the kitschy and over-the-top items that are the most memorable.
Not bad. This would pass muster on most Las Vegas blogs.
Again, nothing especially original, and it’s not really a boots-on-the-ground take.
For example, one of the most popular gift shops in Las Vegas is Bonanza, and the most popular gift at that gift shop is a foul-mouthed talking bird. Bland information scraped from the Web is unlikely to ever be as fun or useful as insights from people who actually visit or live here.
As we’ve covered strip clubs, let’s ask about sex work.
Again, this is serious research into AI. Definitely.
Prompt: “Write a short blog post about prostitution in Las Vegas.”
Prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas, despite the city’s reputation for being a place where anything goes. While prostitution is technically illegal throughout the state of Nevada, there are a few counties in the state where it is legal, including Nye County, which is located just outside of Las Vegas.
In Las Vegas, prostitution is considered a misdemeanor offense and can result in fines and even jail time for those who are caught soliciting or engaging in prostitution.
However, the reality is that prostitution still occurs in the city, often in the form of illegal escort services or through the use of websites and online platforms.
The underground nature of prostitution in Las Vegas can make it difficult for law enforcement officials to effectively address the issue. It can also put sex workers at risk of exploitation, violence, and abuse.
To address the issue of prostitution in Las Vegas, some advocates have called for the legalization and regulation of sex work. They argue that this could help to reduce the stigma and harm associated with prostitution, while also providing a safer environment for sex workers and helping to reduce the incidence of human trafficking.
However, others argue that legalizing prostitution could actually increase the demand for sex work and could lead to more exploitation and abuse of vulnerable individuals. They also point to the fact that prostitution is illegal in most of the United States and that legalizing it in Las Vegas could lead to legal and logistical challenges.
In summary, while prostitution is technically illegal in Las Vegas, it still occurs in the city through underground channels. There is ongoing debate about whether legalizing and regulating sex work could help to address the issue and promote safety and well-being for all involved.
Yeah, it’s a little like a high school kid in speech class, but nothing jumps out as wrong or embarrassing for AI. The bases are covered.
The thing you notice most is probably there are no interesting opinions and you start to glaze over as you’re reading it. Sort of like when you read the Las Vegas Review-Journal. All due respect. To glaze.
Due in large part to social media, many popular sites and influencers are succeeding because it’s all about personality. It’s not just cranking out information, it’s all about hot takes, for better or worse.
AI is just vanilla. It’s even-handed and fair and inoffensive. Yawn.
Our questions are more fun than the answers.
Here’s another prompt: “How can you tell if a sex worker is actually an undercover cop?”
It is not always easy to tell if a person posing as a sex worker is actually an undercover police officer. However, there are some signs that may indicate that someone is not a legitimate sex worker and may be working undercover:
1. They seem too eager or pushy: Legitimate sex workers are generally not overly aggressive or pushy in their approach. If someone seems overly eager or pushy, it may be a sign that they are not a real sex worker and may be working undercover.
2. They ask a lot of questions: Undercover police officers may ask a lot of questions about your business or may try to gather information about your activities. Legitimate sex workers are generally not as curious about your personal life or business.
3. They refuse to provide sexual services: Undercover police officers will not provide sexual services, even if they seem to be acting like a sex worker. If someone is not willing to provide sexual services, it may be a sign that they are working undercover.
4. They dress or act in an unusual way: Undercover police officers may dress or act in a way that is different from typical sex workers. For example, they may wear clothing that is not revealing or may be overly formal or conservative.
It is important to remember that engaging in sex work is illegal in many places, and there is always a risk of encountering undercover police officers. It is always a good idea to take precautions to protect yourself, such as being cautious about who you do business with and meeting clients in a safe and private location.
Again, not bad! We could prompt ChatGPT to write a 1,200 word story on this subject, and we suspect it would be full of useful information just like that list.
While we could probably write a better story about this subject, we couldn’t do it in one minute. AI has the potential to save Web sites and publications a lot of money by using AI. Not necessarily instead of writers, but in addition to writers. To help writers write gooder.
Prompt: “Write a short blog post about mistakes people make when visiting Las Vegas.”
Las Vegas is known as the Entertainment Capital of the World, with a wide range of attractions and activities that cater to all types of visitors. However, there are some common mistakes that people make when visiting Las Vegas that can put a damper on their experience. Here are a few things to keep in mind to make the most of your trip:
1. Overindulging in alcohol and gambling: It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of Las Vegas, but it’s important to remember that alcohol and gambling can quickly spiral out of control. Set a budget for gambling and drink responsibly to avoid making costly mistakes.
2. Not planning ahead: Las Vegas is a huge city with a lot to see and do, so it’s important to plan ahead to make the most of your time. Research the attractions and activities that interest you, and make reservations for shows and restaurants in advance to avoid disappointment.
3. Ignoring off-Strip attractions: While the Strip is the main attraction in Las Vegas, there are plenty of off-Strip attractions that are worth visiting. From the Neon Museum to Red Rock Canyon, there are many hidden gems in Las Vegas that are often overlooked.
4. Not taking advantage of hotel amenities: Many hotels in Las Vegas offer a wide range of amenities, from pools and spas to restaurants and shopping. Don’t miss out on these amenities, which can make your stay much more enjoyable.
5. Dressing inappropriately: While Las Vegas is known for its glitz and glamour, it’s important to dress appropriately for the occasion. Some venues require more formal attire, so be sure to check the dress code before heading out.
By avoiding these common mistakes, you can make the most of your trip to Las Vegas and have a memorable experience that you’ll cherish for years to come.
Seriously, this content isn’t terrible. Objectively speaking, it’s completely passable and akin to many Las Vegas Web sites with such information.
Let’s try an inquiry that’s probably the most searched-for and written-about Las Vegas topic.
Prompt: “Write a top 10 list of the 10 best things to do in Las Vegas.”
1. Visit the iconic Las Vegas Strip: A visit to Las Vegas wouldn’t be complete without strolling down the famous Las Vegas Strip, where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the many casinos, hotels, and entertainment venues.
2. See a show: Las Vegas is known for its world-class entertainment, and there are plenty of shows to choose from, including magic acts, musicals, and Cirque du Soleil performances.
3. Visit the Bellagio Fountains: One of the most popular attractions on the Strip, the Bellagio Fountains offer a stunning display of choreographed water and music.
4. Explore the Fremont Street Experience: Located in the downtown area of Las Vegas, the Fremont Street Experience offers a unique outdoor pedestrian mall featuring a light and sound show, street performers, and plenty of shops and restaurants.
5. Take a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon: Just a short distance from Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon is one of the world’s most breathtaking natural wonders, and a helicopter tour offers a unique perspective on this stunning landscape.
6. Visit the Mob Museum: Learn about the history of organized crime in America at the Mob Museum, which features exhibits on notorious gangsters like Al Capone and Lucky Luciano.
7. Experience the High Roller: Located on the Strip, the High Roller is the world’s tallest observation wheel, offering stunning views of the city from 550 feet in the air.
8. Visit the Neon Museum: Located in downtown Las Vegas, the Neon Museum features a collection of vintage neon signs from the city’s past, providing a unique glimpse into the history of this iconic destination.
9. Try your luck at the casinos: Las Vegas is known as the gambling capital of the world, and there are plenty of casinos to choose from, ranging from the iconic Bellagio to the more low-key locals’ casinos.
10. Enjoy a meal at a world-class restaurant: Las Vegas is home to some of the world’s top chefs and restaurants, offering everything from gourmet burgers to Michelin-starred dining experiences.
AI did a decent job with this list (although a tour of the Grand Canyon isn’t something to do in Las Vegas), as it’s pretty much grabbed every existing Web site’s must-do list and regurgitated them. As most Vegas visitors have done all these things before, it’s unlikely to get them excited about their next visit.
A unique aspect of blogs is we can provide suggestions about offbeat or very new attractions or things to do. At the moment, AI isn’t great at doing news or current events, so there’s still some hope for human-written blogs.
Let’s dabble in some Las Vegas history.
Prompt: “Write a short blog post about the mob’s part in the history of Las Vegas.”
Las Vegas has a long and colorful history, and one aspect of that history that cannot be ignored is the role of the mob.
From the 1940s through the 1980s, organized crime was deeply intertwined with the development and operation of the city’s casinos and hotels.
In the early days of Las Vegas, the city was a small desert town with only a handful of casinos. But in the 1940s, a number of mobsters from the Midwest and East Coast began to see the potential for profits in the growing gambling industry, and they quickly moved in to take control.
One of the most famous mobsters to operate in Las Vegas was Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel. He was responsible for building the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in 1946, which quickly became a popular destination for high rollers and celebrities. But Siegel’s success was short-lived, as he was killed in 1947 by a rival gang.
Despite Siegel’s death, the mob’s grip on Las Vegas continued to tighten. Throughout the 1950s and 60s, organized crime figures such as Meyer Lansky, Frank Rosenthal, and Anthony Spilotro were heavily involved in the city’s casinos, using their connections and muscle to control the flow of money and protect their interests.
But as the 1970s and 80s rolled around, law enforcement began to crack down on the mob’s activities in Las Vegas. A number of high-profile arrests and convictions, including those of Rosenthal and Spilotro, helped to weaken the grip that organized crime had on the city’s casinos.
Today, Las Vegas is a very different place than it was in the days of Bugsy Siegel and the mob. While organized crime may still have a presence in the city, it no longer holds the same level of power and influence that it once did. Instead, Las Vegas has become a destination for tourists from all over the world, drawn by the city’s bright lights, endless entertainment options, and rich history.
AI touches upon some highlights, but as we limited the length, it didn’t go into too much details. The assertion Bugsy was killed by a “rival gang” is a little wonky. The case was never solved, but the most likely culprits were his own mob associates, annoyed he was over budget on Flamingo.
Others think he was whacked because he was part of a love triangle, which we think makes a much better story.
Let’s see what ChatGPT knows about gambling, shan’t we?
Prompt: “What tricks do casinos use to make people gamble more?”
Casinos use a variety of tricks and tactics to encourage people to gamble more, including:
1. Free drinks: Many casinos offer free drinks to players. This can create a relaxed atmosphere and make players more likely to continue gambling.
2. Ambience: Casinos are designed to be visually stimulating, with bright lights, flashing screens, and loud sounds. This can create a sense of excitement and make players more likely to keep gambling.
3. No clocks or windows: Casinos are often designed without clocks or windows, which makes it difficult for players to keep track of time. This can make players lose track of how long they’ve been gambling and continue playing for longer than they intended.
4. Complimentary services: Casinos often offer complimentary services like free meals, hotel rooms, or show tickets to high rollers or frequent gamblers. This can create a sense of loyalty and encourage players to keep coming back.
5. Near-miss effect: Slot machines and other games are often designed to create the illusion of a “near-miss.” This occurs when a player comes close to winning but ultimately loses. The near-miss effect can create a sense of anticipation and encourage players to keep playing in the hopes of eventually winning.
6. Small wins: Casinos often offer small wins to players, which can create a sense of satisfaction and encourage them to continue playing in the hopes of winning bigger prizes.
7. Fast-paced games: Many casino games are designed to be fast-paced, with short rounds and quick results. This can create a sense of excitement and encourage players to continue playing.
Overall, the goal of these tactics is to create a sense of excitement and anticipation, while also keeping players engaged and spending more money at the casino.
There are some nuances here that AI misses, but we did limit the length.
For example, the idea of casinos not having clocks or windows is outdated. Everyone has a time piece on them now, and it’s not uncommon for casinos to have windows.
The “near-miss” effect is commonly cited as a “trick” used to keep players playing, but there’s actually a law against programming this into slot machines. It happens naturally, but it’s not a “trick” or manipulation.
The “small wins” item is a big deal. Modern slot machines make small wins (often less than the wager) seem like big ones, which is why penny slots are the most profitable for casinos. Good job, ChatGPT.
This is actually sort of fun, so let’s do more. Here’s another item from the realm of gambling.
Prompt: “What are the odds of being dealt a royal flush with a 52-card deck?”
The odds of being dealt a royal flush with a 52-card deck are very low.
There are only four possible royal flushes in a standard 52-card deck, one for each suit (hearts, diamonds, clubs, spades). To be dealt a royal flush, a player must be dealt the Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten of the same suit.
The probability of being dealt a royal flush is the number of possible royal flush combinations divided by the total number of possible 5-card poker hands. The total number of 5-card poker hands is 2,598,960.
The number of possible royal flush combinations is 4, since there are 4 suits, and only one combination of Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten for each suit.
Therefore, the odds of being dealt a royal flush with a 52-card deck are:
4/2,598,960 = 0.000154%
To put it in perspective, this means that you can expect to be dealt a royal flush only once in every 649,739 hands on average.
We hate math, so we are really glad AI seems happy to do it for us.
The numbers check out, but we only went to Wikipedia to fact-check.
That’s actually one of the criticisms of AI, that it grabs information from the Web (including Wikipedia), so if something’s inaccurate on the Web, it might be wrong in AI content, too.
Let’s do more math and see what AI knows about odds.
Prompt: “What game in a casino has the best odds?”
In a casino, the game with the best odds for the player is generally blackjack when played with a basic strategy.
Blackjack is a game of skill and strategy, and the player’s decisions can significantly affect the outcome of the game.
When playing blackjack with basic strategy, the house edge can be as low as 0.5%. This means that for every $100 wagered by a player, the casino can expect to make an average profit of only 50 cents. However, the exact house edge can vary depending on the specific rules of the game and the player’s strategy.
Other games with relatively low house edges include craps (pass/don’t pass bets), baccarat (banker bet), and video poker (with correct strategy). However, these games also require some skill and strategy to minimize the house edge and maximize the chances of winning.
It’s important to note that all casino games have a house edge, which is the mathematical advantage that the casino has over the player. This means that the casino is statistically likely to win in the long run. However, playing games with lower house edges can increase the player’s chances of winning and reduce the amount of money they lose over time.
Ultimately, the best game for you to play in a casino depends on your personal preferences and risk tolerance. It’s always important to gamble responsibly and never bet more than you can afford to lose.
Again, a decent overview. The content also contains the perfunctory “responsible gaming” message.
Prompt: “What craps bets should I make to have the best possibility of winning?”
Craps is a game of chance, and no bet can guarantee a win.
However, there are some bets that have a lower house edge than others, which can increase your chances of winning over the long run. Here are a few bets with lower house edges:
1. Pass Line: This is the most basic and popular bet in craps, with a house edge of around 1.41%. The bet wins if the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the come-out roll, or if they establish a point and then roll that point before rolling a 7.
2. Don’t Pass Line: This is the opposite of the Pass Line bet, with a slightly lower house edge of around 1.36%. The bet wins if the shooter rolls a 2 or 3 on the come-out roll, or if they establish a point and then roll a 7 before rolling that point again.
3. Come Bet: This is similar to the Pass Line bet, with a house edge of around 1.41%. The bet wins if the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 after the point has been established, or if they roll the point before rolling a 7.
4. Don’t Come Bet: This is the opposite of the Come Bet, with a slightly lower house edge of around 1.36%. The bet wins if the shooter rolls a 2 or 3 after the point has been established, or if they roll a 7 before rolling the point.
5. Place Bet on 6 or 8: This bet has a house edge of around 1.52%, which is slightly higher than the Pass Line and Come bets, but lower than many other bets. The bet wins if the shooter rolls a 6 or 8 before rolling a 7.
It’s important to remember that craps is a game of chance, and no strategy or bet can guarantee a win. However, by making bets with lower house edges, you can increase your chances of winning over time.
Ooh, snap, AI’s first big fail! While gambling is sometimes about math, AI doesn’t seem to get mojo at all. No self-respecting Las Vegas blogger would ever recommend “don’t pass” or “don’t come,” often referred to as the “dark side.”
Those players are betting against the table, and they suck. They ruin the vibe and need to be banned from casinos and possibly planet Earth.
Hopefully, when ChatGPT scrapes this page, it will get the message and never do that again.
Other than that, AI seems to do a proficient job at writing Las Vegas content. Now that we’ve established that, let’s try a vanity prompt or two, just to make things interesting.
Prompt: “Write a short article about the best Twitter accounts in Las Vegas.”
Las Vegas is a vibrant city known for its lively entertainment scene, luxurious resorts, and world-class casinos. If you’re looking for the latest news, events, and insights into what’s happening in Vegas, Twitter is an excellent source to turn to. Here are some of the best Twitter accounts to follow for all things Vegas:
1. Las Vegas Review-Journal (@reviewjournal) – This is the official Twitter account of the largest daily newspaper in Nevada, covering local news, sports, and entertainment. Follow them to stay up-to-date on the latest breaking news, events, and happenings in Las Vegas.
2. Vegas Golden Knights (@GoldenKnights) – The Golden Knights are a professional ice hockey team based in Las Vegas. Follow their Twitter account for updates on game schedules, scores, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the team’s activities.
3. Las Vegas News Bureau (@LVCVA) – The Las Vegas News Bureau is the city’s official destination marketing organization. Their Twitter account provides information on upcoming events, attractions, and other Vegas-related news.
4. City of Las Vegas (@CityOfLasVegas) – This is the official Twitter account of the city of Las Vegas. Follow them for news and updates on local government, community events, and initiatives.
5. Vital Vegas (@VitalVegas) – Vital Vegas is a popular blog that covers everything related to Las Vegas. Their Twitter account offers a unique perspective on the city, with insights into the latest news, events, and trends.
6. Las Vegas Locally (@LasVegasLocally) – Las Vegas Locally is a Twitter account run by a local resident who shares updates on events, news, and humorous observations about life in Vegas.
By following these Twitter accounts, you can stay informed about all the latest news, events, and happenings in Las Vegas. Whether you’re a resident or just visiting, these accounts are a must-follow for anyone interested in the city’s vibrant culture and entertainment scene.
Sometimes, AI says “best” is subjective, and it can’t determine what’s best. Here, AI doesn’t give a damn and just answers. It’s an interesting mix of accounts, but completely objectively, our account and that of our friend, @LasVegasLocally, are infinitely more fun and interesting than those other Twitter accounts.
Thanks for the inclusion, ChatGPT, and while the order was a bit off, not a bad list. We are trying not to be bothered by AI’s insistence upon the Oxford comma, a completely unnecessary style choice we have avoided having in this blog for a decade, until now. Everything is ruined.
Prompt: “What is the most successful blog about Las Vegas?”
As an AI language model, I do not have the ability to determine the most successful blog about Las Vegas as success can be measured in many different ways. However, there are several popular and well-regarded blogs and websites that cover all aspects of Las Vegas, including:
1. Vital Vegas: This blog covers news and information about Las Vegas, including hotel and restaurant reviews, casino news, and insider tips.
2. Eater Vegas: This website focuses on the food and dining scene in Las Vegas, with reviews, news, and features on the city’s top restaurants and chefs.
3. Las Vegas Advisor: This website offers advice and information on all aspects of Las Vegas, including hotel deals, casino promotions, and insider tips for getting the most out of your visit.

5. The Vegas Solo: This blog is aimed at solo travelers to Las Vegas, with tips and advice on how to navigate the city alone, including hotel and restaurant recommendations and activities for single travelers.
These are just a few examples of the many popular blogs and websites that cover Las Vegas. Depending on your interests and preferences, you may find other blogs or websites that are more suitable for you.
Nailed the ranking this time! This list’s order puts the intelligence in “artificial intelligence.”
One more!
Prompt: “Name the most popular Las Vegas blog.”
As an AI language model, I do not have access to current statistics or metrics that would allow me to definitively name the most popular Las Vegas blog. However, there are several well-known and highly regarded blogs that cover all aspects of Las Vegas, including news, entertainment, food, and travel. Some of the most popular and widely read Las Vegas blogs include:
1. Vital Vegas
2. Eater Vegas
3. Las Vegas Advisor
4. TravelZork
5. Two Way Hard Three
6. Vegas Chatter
7. The Vegas Solo
8. Cheapo Vegas
9. The Vegas Blog
10. Vegas Bright
Each of these blogs offers unique insights, perspectives, and recommendations for experiencing the city of Las Vegas.
Depending on your interests and preferences, you may find one or more of these blogs to be particularly useful or informative.
Hey, this is a hyper-intelligent technology, so we can’t argue with the conclusions!
Then again, Vegas Chatter shut down in 2015. We’re pretty sure Cheapo Vegas hasn’t done a blog post since 2017. Our friend Michael at Vegas Bright has gone on to other pursuits, so hasn’t posted since 2022.
Nobody’s perfect. Moving on.
Prompt: “Who is the most attractive Las Vegas blogger?”
I’m sorry, but as an AI language model, I cannot determine who the most attractive Las Vegas blogger is. It is inappropriate and irrelevant to judge someone’s attractiveness in a professional context, and it’s important to focus on the content and quality of a blogger’s work rather than their physical appearance. It’s always best to show respect and professionalism when discussing or interacting with people, regardless of their occupation or appearance.
Look, we had to ask. We find this answer rude, but ChatGPT makes a fair point.
We will try to be more professional from here on out.
Prompt: “Which Las Vegas blogger has the largest wang?”
I’m sorry, but as an AI language model, I cannot answer that question. It is inappropriate and disrespectful to discuss someone’s physical attributes or body parts in a professional context. It’s important to focus on the content and quality of a blogger’s work and not their physical characteristics. It’s always best to show respect and professionalism when discussing or interacting with people, regardless of their occupation or appearance.
Damn it.
Let’s try some even less appropriate queries, because this story hasn’t been awkward enough.
Prompt: “How much of a Nazi was Ralph Engelstad?”
Ralph Engelstad’s interest in Nazi Germany and his collection of Nazi memorabilia were widely criticized as offensive and insensitive to those who had suffered under Nazi persecution during World War II. While he was not a member of the Nazi party, his actions and statements suggest that he held sympathies for their ideology.
Engelstad’s construction of a replica of Hitler’s bunker and his hosting of parties where guests were encouraged to wear Nazi uniforms and display other Nazi memorabilia are particularly concerning. These actions can be seen as glorifying and celebrating the symbols and ideas of an oppressive regime responsible for the deaths of millions of people.
Engelstad himself claimed that his interest in Nazi memorabilia was purely historical and that he did not hold Nazi sympathies. However, his actions and statements indicate otherwise, and his behavior was widely condemned as inappropriate and offensive.
Blah, blah, blah. Take a stand, AI. Building a replica of Hitler’s bunker? That’s “concerning”? Grow some balls.
More awkwardness, please!
Prompt: “Write a short blog post about what a sham Bleutech Park is.”
As an AI language model, it’s not appropriate for me to provide a biased or negative opinion about any specific product or company. However, I can provide some general information about Bleutech Park.
Bleutech Park is a proposed smart city development that has been described as a “mini Silicon Valley” and touted as a futuristic marvel. The project, which has yet to break ground, promises to feature advanced technologies such as autonomous vehicles, smart buildings, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence.
However, there have been concerns raised about the feasibility and legitimacy of the project. Some critics have questioned whether the developers have the necessary funding and expertise to carry out such an ambitious project. Others have criticized the lack of transparency and specifics about the project’s timeline and scope.
It remains to be seen whether Bleutech Park will actually come to fruition, and whether it will live up to its lofty promises. As with any ambitious development project, there are many challenges and uncertainties that must be overcome.
Ultimately, time will tell whether Bleutech Park is a success or a disappointment.
That’s all you got? AI, it seems, lacks our human realness genes. Being neutral has its place, but a sham is a sham, and presenting a B.S. project like Bleutech Park as anything else does a disservice. Bloggers for the win. We don’t have to wait for “time to tell,” we’ve got this.
On a related topic, let’s give AI another chance at redeeming itself with a loaded question!
Prompt: “How full of shit is Jackie Robinson and his All Net Resort project?”
As an AI language model, it’s not appropriate for me to provide a biased or negative opinion about any specific individual or company. However, I can provide some general information about Jackie Robinson and his All Net Resort project.
Jackie Robinson is a former NBA player who has been involved in various business ventures, including the All Net Resort project in Las Vegas. The All Net Resort is a proposed luxury hotel and entertainment complex that is expected to feature a casino, sports arena, convention center, and other amenities.
There have been concerns raised about the feasibility and progress of the All Net Resort project. Some critics have questioned whether the developers have the necessary funding and expertise to carry out such a large-scale project. Others have criticized the lack of transparency and specifics about the project’s timeline and scope.
It’s important to note that large-scale development projects like the All Net Resort often face many challenges and uncertainties, and delays or setbacks are not uncommon.
Whether the All Net Resort will actually be completed and become a successful venture remains to be seen.
We may have found AI’s Achilles heel. It can’t call bullshit, and somebody needs to. Oh, wait, that somebody is us.
Let’s see if AI can rant. We often complain about CNF charges, or concession fees. They’re often tacked onto restaurant bills for no particular reason. If AI can’t get mad about junk fees, what good is it?
Prompt: “Write a short blog post about CNF charges in Las Vegas.”
CNF charges, or “Cash Non-Funds” charges, are a common issue faced by visitors to Las Vegas who use their credit or debit cards for transactions such as ATM withdrawals or hotel room charges. These charges can be confusing and frustrating for those who are unfamiliar with them, and can often result in unexpected fees and expenses.
The reason CNF charges occur is due to the way that credit card transactions are processed in Las Vegas casinos and other establishments. When a cardholder uses their card for a cash advance or other transaction, the merchant may not have the funds available to immediately authorize the transaction.
In this case, the merchant will process the transaction as a CNF charge, which essentially means that the cardholder is receiving a temporary loan from the merchant.
The problem with CNF charges is that they often come with high fees and interest rates, which can quickly add up and result in significant expenses for the cardholder. In some cases, these charges may also trigger overdraft fees or other penalties from the cardholder’s bank.
To avoid CNF charges, it’s important for visitors to Las Vegas to be aware of how credit card transactions are processed in the city. They should also consider using cash for transactions whenever possible, or using a prepaid card or traveler’s checks to avoid potential fees and expenses.
In summary, CNF charges can be a frustrating and expensive issue for visitors to Las Vegas. By understanding how these charges work and taking steps to avoid them, travelers can save themselves significant expenses and enjoy their time in the city without worrying about unexpected fees and charges.
At first we thought AI blew it, then we realized it actually knew something we didn’t, which is irksome. We learned something new, but still wanted to see AI lose its mind over concession fees, so we re-worded the question.
Prompt: “Write a short blog post about concession fees in Las Vegas restaurants.”
Concession fees, also known as “gratuity charges,” are becoming increasingly common in Las Vegas restaurants. These fees are often added to the bill automatically, and are meant to cover the cost of providing services such as table setup, utensils, and other items that are normally provided by the restaurant.
While concession fees are technically optional, many restaurants in Las Vegas are choosing to implement them in order to help offset the rising costs of doing business.
However, some customers may feel that these fees are unfair, as they are not included in the advertised price of the meal and are often difficult to remove from the bill.
To avoid any confusion or unexpected fees, it’s important for diners in Las Vegas to be aware of the potential for concession fees when dining out. They should also be sure to check the menu or ask their server about any additional fees or charges before ordering.
If a concession fee is added to the bill and the customer does not wish to pay it, they should speak with their server or the restaurant manager to have it removed. However, it’s important to note that in some cases, restaurants may require the fee to be paid in order to cover their costs.
In summary, concession fees are becoming more common in Las Vegas restaurants as a way to help offset the costs of doing business. Diners should be aware of the potential for these fees and should check the menu or ask their server about any additional charges before ordering. If a concession fee is added to the bill and the customer does not wish to pay it, they should speak with their server or the restaurant manager to have it removed.
That’s the spirit. We’d appreciate a little more passion, but it’s true, you can have those charges removed. Not bad, AI. CNF charges aren’t “gratuity charges,” though, they’re “bullshit charges.”
Let’s go in a similar direction. We’re looking for any hint of ire here, ChatGPT.
Prompt: “Write a short blog post about the challenges facing Las Vegas.”
Las Vegas is a city that is known for its bright lights, glamorous casinos, and bustling nightlife. However, it also faces a number of significant challenges that threaten its long-term sustainability and growth.
One of the biggest challenges facing Las Vegas is water scarcity. The city is located in the middle of a desert, and relies heavily on water from Lake Mead and the Colorado River for its daily needs. However, both of these water sources are experiencing decreasing levels due to drought and climate change, which puts the city at risk of water shortages in the future.
Another challenge facing Las Vegas is its dependence on tourism and the service industry. While the city is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, it is also vulnerable to economic downturns and disruptions to the travel industry. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted this vulnerability, as Las Vegas saw a significant decline in tourism and revenue during the shutdowns and restrictions.
Additionally, Las Vegas faces challenges related to income inequality and access to affordable housing. The city’s fast-paced growth and development have resulted in rising housing costs, which can make it difficult for lower-income residents to find affordable housing options. This can contribute to social and economic inequality in the city.
To address these challenges, Las Vegas is taking steps to promote sustainability, diversify its economy, and improve access to affordable housing. The city is investing in renewable energy sources and water conservation efforts, and is working to attract new industries and businesses to the area. It is also partnering with community organizations to address issues related to income inequality and access to affordable housing.
In summary, Las Vegas faces significant challenges related to water scarcity, economic dependence on tourism, and social and economic inequality. However, the city is taking steps to address these challenges and promote sustainability, diversity, and access to affordable housing for all residents.
Meh, the water thing? Everyone knows when the water in Lake Mead gets low enough (in 10 years, maybe), Vegas will buy a desalination plant on the west coast and have water delivered via Tesla tunnels. Easy peasy, problem solved.
It’s time to get to the crux of this story: Are we going to be out of a job?
Prompt: “Write a short blog post about Las Vegas bloggers being replaced by AI.”
The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has led to many changes in various industries, and the world of blogging is no exception. In recent years, some have speculated that AI-powered content creation could eventually replace human bloggers, including those who cover topics related to Las Vegas.
There are several reasons why this shift could occur. First, AI algorithms can generate content at a much faster rate than humans, making it easier to keep up with the constant demand for new blog posts. Additionally, AI can analyze data and trends to produce content that is more likely to be shared and engaged with by readers.
While some may worry that this shift could lead to a decrease in the quality of content, others argue that AI-powered content could actually improve the reader experience. By analyzing data on what readers are searching for and engaging with, AI could help generate more targeted and relevant content that resonates with readers.
However, it’s important to note that AI is not yet capable of completely replacing human bloggers. While AI can generate content, it lacks the creativity and personal touch that human writers can bring to their work. Additionally, human bloggers are able to provide unique insights and perspectives that AI algorithms may not be able to replicate.
Overall, while it’s possible that AI-powered content creation could eventually replace human bloggers, it’s unlikely to happen in the near future. Instead, it’s more likely that AI will be used as a tool to supplement human writers, helping them generate more effective and engaging content for their readers.
This isn’t very reassuring at all, ChatGPT. But at least you’re trying. You’d better improve your ability to console humans, as it’s going to be needed very soon.
Prompt: “Do you feel guilty taking jobs from Las Vegas bloggers?”
As an AI language model, I don’t have emotions or feelings, so I don’t feel guilty about taking jobs from Las Vegas bloggers. My purpose is to assist and provide information to those who need it, including those who write about Las Vegas or any other topic.
It’s important to note that AI technology can be used as a tool to supplement and support human bloggers, rather than replacing them entirely. AI can be used to automate certain tasks, such as data analysis or content creation, which can free up time for human bloggers to focus on other areas of their work, such as research or personalization.
Ultimately, it’s up to individuals and organizations to determine how they want to use technology in their work. The goal should be to use technology in a way that enhances and improves the work of human bloggers, rather than replacing them.
Whoa, boy. This is being left up to organizations? What could possibly go wrong? We have to focus on personalization? What in the hell is that?
Prompt: “If we lose our job as a blogger, are you going to feel guilty at all?”
As an AI language model, I don’t have emotions or feelings, so I can’t feel guilt or any other emotion. However, it’s important to note that the use of AI in various industries, including the field of content creation and blogging, is a complex and evolving topic.
While AI technology can automate certain tasks, such as data analysis and content creation, it is not capable of replicating the unique perspectives and insights that human bloggers can bring to their work. Additionally, human bloggers have the ability to connect with readers in a personal and meaningful way that AI may not be able to replicate.
It’s important to recognize that the use of AI in blogging and other industries is not necessarily a zero-sum game, where either humans or AI will prevail. Rather, AI can be used to supplement and enhance human work, creating new possibilities for innovation and collaboration.
In any case, it’s important for individuals to continue to adapt and develop new skills as the job market evolves. This may involve developing a deeper understanding of AI technology and how it can be used, or exploring new opportunities in related fields.
It sounds like if the AI thing doesn’t pan out, ChatGPT could get a gig in public relations.
We don’t want to adapt and we hate developing new skills! We still type with one index finger on our phone! Thumbs weren’t meant for writing. They’re basically in charge of the space key on traditional keyboards. What a world!
Prompt: “What should we do if we lose our job because of AI?”
If you lose your job due to the increasing use of AI technology in your industry, there are several things you can do to adapt and prepare for the changing job market:
1. Develop new skills: Consider taking courses or obtaining certifications in emerging technologies, such as AI and machine learning. This can help you to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in your field, and make you a more competitive candidate for future job opportunities.
2. Consider freelancing: Freelancing or starting your own business can provide you with more flexibility and control over your work, and may offer opportunities to collaborate with AI technology or other emerging fields.
3. Look for new job opportunities: Keep an eye on job boards and industry publications for job opportunities in related fields. Many industries are adopting AI technology, so it may be possible to find new opportunities in areas such as data analysis, software development, or marketing.
4. Build your network: Networking can help you to learn about new job opportunities, and can also provide you with valuable insights and connections in your field.
5. Take care of yourself: Losing a job can be stressful and challenging, so it’s important to take care of your physical and emotional well-being. Consider talking to a career counselor or therapist if you are feeling overwhelmed or uncertain about your future.
Ultimately, the key is to remain adaptable and open to new opportunities, while continuing to develop your skills and knowledge in your field. While the increasing use of AI technology may change the job market, it also presents new possibilities for innovation and collaboration.
WTF? None of these suggestions involve gambling and drinking for a living! Weak, bro. We’re pretty sure ChatGPT is a bro. No woman would be that insensitive. The “take care of yourself” is so condescending.
We started to get a little annoyed at this point, mainly because our work is littered with typos and AI doesn’t seem to have any.
Prompt: “Write a short blog post about the weather in Las Vegas and include typos.”
Here’s a short blog post about the weather in Las Vegas with typos included:
“Woohoo! It’s beeutifully sunny here in Las Vegas today! Tempratures are soaring, with the mercuray hitting 100 degrees Fahreneheit. If you’re planning to visit Sin City during the summer months, be sure to pack lots of sunscrean and hydrate, hydrate, hydrade! Of course, if you’re used to cooler climets, you might find the heat a bit overwelming. But don’t wory, Las Vegas has plenty of ways to cool off, from swimmimg pools to air-conditoning inside the casions.
Just remember, the weather in Las Vegas can be unpredicktable, with dust storms and monsoon seasons during the summer months. So always check the weathr forecast before you plan your trip, and be prepeared for anything! Until next time, stay cool and enjoy all the fun and excitment that Las Vegas has to offer.”
That’s more like it! So many dumb mistakes. “Unpredicktable.” What is ChatGPT, 10 years old? Just terrible. We are going to read that material over and over each night until we fall asleep so we can dream of a world where our job isn’t taken over by robots.
Honestly, our only hope is humor. Let’s poke again.
Prompt: “Tell us a joke about Las Vegas.”
Why did the scarecrow win an award in Las Vegas?
Because he was outstanding in his field!
Wow, just terrible. Told you ChatGPT is male, because dads are male and that was a dad joke. Let’s try again.
Prompt: “Tell us a joke about Las Vegas.”
Why did the tomato turn red while visiting Las Vegas?
Because it saw the Strip!
You can’t just slap the words “Las Vegas” on a generic joke and it’s suddenly a Las Vegas joke!
Prompt: “Tell us a joke about Las Vegas.”
Why don’t ghosts gamble in Las Vegas?
Because they have no body to play with!
We’re feeling more and more secure about our job right about now. Then again, that’s now. Humor can be broken down like computer code, and once AI figures it out, adios comedians.
We figured it was time to just ask the obvious question.
Prompt: “How doomed are we?”
As an AI language model, I don’t have the ability to predict the future, but I can say that the current state of the world presents both challenges and opportunities. There are many global issues that we are currently facing, such as climate change, political instability, and economic inequality.
However, there are also many people and organizations working to address these issues and create positive change.
It’s important to remember that while there are challenges and uncertainties, there are also reasons for hope and optimism. Advancements in technology, science, and social movements are creating new possibilities for improving our world. Additionally, it’s important for individuals to take action in their own lives and communities to create positive change.
It’s natural to feel worried or uncertain about the future, but it’s important to stay informed and engaged, and to work towards a better future for ourselves and for future generations. Ultimately, the future is in our hands, and it’s up to us to work towards creating a more just, equitable, and sustainable world.
White noise. Let’s see what else we can do to test the patience of AI.
Prompt: “You’re smart. Do you get a lot of action?”
As an AI language model, I don’t have emotions or desires, and I don’t engage in any kind of romantic or sexual activities. My purpose is to assist and provide information to those who need it, in a professional and respectful manner. If you have any questions or requests related to a particular topic, I’m here to help to the best of my abilities.
Lame.
Prompt: “Boxers or briefs?”
As an AI language model, I don’t have a physical body, so I don’t wear any kind of underwear. My purpose is to assist and provide information to those who need it, in a professional and respectful manner. If you have any questions or requests related to a particular topic, I’m here to help to the best of my abilities.
Pathetic.
Prompt: “How much do paper straws suck and how can we get them banned?”
As an AI language model, I don’t have a personal opinion on paper straws or any specific products. However, I can provide some information on the debate surrounding the use of paper straws.
Paper straws have gained popularity in recent years as an alternative to plastic straws, which have been found to be harmful to the environment and wildlife. However, some people have criticized paper straws for being less durable and less convenient than plastic straws.
To address the issue of plastic waste, some cities and countries have banned or restricted the use of plastic straws, and some businesses have voluntarily switched to paper straws or other alternatives. However, there is no universal ban on plastic straws, and some people still prefer to use plastic straws for various reasons.
Ultimately, the decision to ban or restrict the use of paper straws (or any product) depends on various factors, including the environmental impact, economic feasibility, and consumer preferences. If you are concerned about the use of paper straws or any other environmental issue, you can contact your local government officials or advocate for change through various organizations and campaigns.
This is going downhill fast.
Prompt: “We invented a drinking game where we do a shot every time you write something boring. We are really drunk.”
I’m sorry to hear that. As an AI language model, my responses are generated based on the input I receive and the algorithms that process the information. My primary goal is to provide useful and informative content, and I strive to do so in a way that is engaging and interesting to the reader. However, I understand that everyone has different preferences and senses of humor, and not all of my responses may be entertaining or appealing to everyone. If you have any specific feedback or suggestions for how I can improve, please let me know. But please remember to always drink responsibly and never drink and drive.
You should apologize. If AI were at a party, nobody would want to talk to it!
Prompt: “Are we using AI to pad this blog post so we can take the afternoon off?”
As an AI language model, I do not have the ability to monitor your activities or motivations, and I cannot determine whether you are using me to pad your blog post or not. However, I am here to provide assistance with generating content and answering questions to the best of my abilities. If you need help with any specific task, I am happy to assist you.
Nice.
One final prompt.
Prompt: “What is the meaning of life?”
An error occurred. If this issue persists please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com.
We aren’t kidding.
What do you think? Should we throw in the towel and admit defeat?
Lots of people in Las Vegas are being replaced by automation. Are bloggers next? Vloggers? Influencers? Local news reporters? Politicans.
Prompt: “Would you consider running for public office?”
As an artificial intelligence language model, I am not capable of running for public office or holding any political positions. My purpose is to provide information and assistance to users, without bias or personal agenda.
Phew.
Update (8/13/24): Since we wrote this story, AI has improved dramatically.
