]]>This is an aspect of entertainment in the modern era that has passed me by completely; and maybe it’s just as well. And as if that weren’t enough, they’re so short of new ideas that they’re pirating the same old DJ’s back and forth from each other.
As a product of the 1950’s and ’60’s, I think of DJ’s as guys who play records on the air, and sometimes also at concerts or high-school proms. And if one or two of them built up a local cult following, and maybe cooked the books to advance some artist like Elvis a bit beyond what he “deserved”–well, that was part of the deal: sort of a “fringe benefit.” How did I get so cynical? Probably Watergate.
