okolemaluna means BOTTOMS UP in Hawaiian . Veteran of 2 conflicts. I am Poki Man...love sushi and sashimi. always go with ALOHA SPIRIT ! Serviced military 30 years retired Federal field grade. Always remember GO FOR BROKE 442d Regimental combat team..most decorated unit in American Military History. Sacrificed 800 men to rescue 200 Texas American soldiers in France. 442d was comprised of all Japanese American volunteers to prove their loyalty to U.S.A. even when their families were incarcerated (concentrated) surrounded by barbed wire and machine gun towers. Van Johnson starred in 1951 black and white movie entitled Go For Broke which was the combat team's motto..all or nothing. The AWOL rate during WW2 for other American soldiers was about 15 %. The 442d had no AWOLs and as a matter of fact, it was the reverse....442d soldiers in field hospitals went AWOL to return to front lines...amazing. They engaged in hundreds of combat missions and succeeded every single one through out the European campaign. Commanding officers wanted them to fight for them because of their tenacity , bravery and courage to complete all missions where other units failed. Their strength , bravery and courage rose beyond imagination all due to PROVE THEIR LOYALTY TO U.S.A. and they were just as American even though they were of Japanese ancestry.
