(Image: LVMPD)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the short time that the action was carried out, 22 individuals were charged with DUI. One of the drivers was found to have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/ex-raiders-player-henry-ruggs-remains-in-nevada-prison-camp-during-super-bowl\/\">blood alcohol level<\/a> of .202%, which is more than twice the legal limit, police revealed.<\/p>\n<p>At that level, motorists may have multiple side effects from consuming excessive alcohol, according to Minnesota\u2019s College of Saint Benedict.<\/p>\n<p>These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Feeling confused, disoriented, as well as being unable to stand or walk properly.<\/li>\n<li>Having nausea and vomiting.<\/li>\n<li>Possible blackouts.<\/li>\n<li>Passing out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In Nevada, it\u2019s illegal for adults to drive with a BAC of 0.08% or higher.<\/p>\n<p>For the first DUI offense, the defendant, if convicted in Nevada, may spend months in jail or be ordered to pay a sizable fine.<\/p>\n<h2>Other Arrests<\/h2>\n<p>During Saturday\u2019s blitz, 81 citations were issued to drivers for other violations and five additional motorists were arrested.<\/p>\n<p>The selective enforcement involved officers from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/las-vegas-prostitution-arrests-increase-could-be-due-to-tougher-enforcement-experts-explain\/\">Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department\u2019s<\/a> (LVMPD) Northeast Area Command, Southeast Area Command, and Traffic Bureau.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout\">\n<p>The DUI Blitz initiative was enacted by the LVMPD on May 18 following DUI-linked collisions earlier in the year, as well as numerous fatal crashes due to DUI or excessive speed in 2023. Many of the intoxicated drivers had been drinking at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/las-vegas-driver-was-drinking-at-palms-bar-before-killing-two-troopers-reports-reveal\/\">casino bars<\/a>, police revealed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Between May 18 and June 11 under the blitz, LVMPD made a total of 84 DUI arrests, issued 827 citations, and made 20 other arrests. Officers made 1,132 traffic stops during the enforcement operation, resulting in the seizure of seven illegal guns.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"main-blockquote\"><p>The LVMPD DUI Strike Team is comprised of 10 officers who are making a big difference on the roads,\u201d Metro said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSince the team was restarted on May 18, check out some of the items they have taken off the streets and impaired drivers off the roads.\u201d They included illegal substances and items.<\/p>\n<h2>Deadly DUI Sentence<\/h2>\n<p>Last week, it was revealed that the intoxicated man who plowed his car into two Nevada state troopers on a Las Vegas highway in November will be spending at least 16 years behind bars.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/drunk-las-vegas-motorist-who-killed-state-troopers-sentenced-to-at-least-16-years\/\">Jemarcus Williams<\/a>, 46, was sentenced last Tuesday to between 16 and 40 years for the deadly crash.
