He acquired a stake in the WNBA defending champions from the team and Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">Terms of the deal weren&#8217;t disclosed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">Brady said he\u2019s been a fan of women\u2019s sports since he was a kid because his older sisters were athletes.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"main-blockquote\">\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">I admire all the work the Aces players and staff, and what the WNBA continues to do to grow the sport and to empower the future generations of female athletes \u2013 one I have in my own family \u2013 and I&#8217;m ready to contribute in any way possible as a member of such a great organization,\u201d Brady said in the video statement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">Brady, 45, played 23 seasons in the NFL, including 20 with the New England Patriots, before finishing up his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He holds NFL records for passing yards (89,214), passing touchdowns (649), and Super Bowl titles (seven). Davis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/las-vegas-raiders-owner-mark-davis-agrees-to-buy-wnba-aces-from-mgm-resorts\/\">purchased the WNBA team<\/a> from MGM Resorts International two years ago after bringing the Raiders to town for the 2020 season.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"main-blockquote\">\n<p class=\"NewNormal\"><strong>Since I purchased the Aces, our goal has been to win on and off the court,\u201d<\/strong> Davis said in a statement. <strong>\u201cTom Brady is a win not only for the Aces, and the WNBA, but for women\u2019s professional sports as a whole.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">The team said Brady\u2019s interest in joining the Aces began after he watched a game last season at Mandalay Bay\u2019s Michelob ULTRA Arena.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">Brady\u2019s acquisition will require league approval, but league Commissioner Cathy Engelbert issued a statement saying the WNBA is \u201cthrilled\u201d to see Brady\u2019s interest and support.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">\u201cWe are pleased to see the incredible momentum around the WNBA continue, as evidenced by our recent league and team equity deals,\u201d Engelbert said.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"NewNormal\">Vegas Evolving Into a Sports Town<\/h2>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">Brady\u2019s decision to buy into the Aces comes when interest in Las Vegas as a sports city, not just a sports betting city, continues growing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\"><strong>The city has teams in three major professional sports: the Raiders, Aces, and Vegas Golden Knights. In addition, the town is almost always cited as a prime candidate for expansion franchises or teams that may relocate, such as MLB\u2019s Oakland A\u2019s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">There have even been reports linking LeBron James to a potential NBA franchise in Las Vegas, and James himself discussed the opportunity last month before the league\u2019s All-Star Game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">\u201cVegas is a really cool city, and they\u2019re doing some great things in sports these days \u2026 we\u2019ll see what happens and go from there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tom Brady is coming to Las Vegas, but Raiders fans shouldn\u2019t get their hopes up just yet.
