He had escaped from Assumption Parish Detention Center on Tuesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>EARLIER:<\/strong> An alleged armed casino robber escaped from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/lucky-dollar-casino-armed-robber-sought-by-louisiana-cops-after-easter-holdup\/\">Louisiana<\/a> jail this week and remains on the loose. The break-out was blamed on an unspecified \u201cemployee error.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_239664\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-239664\" data-style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-239664\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/jail-1-142x95.jpg\" alt=\"Assumption Parish Detention Center\" width=\"1200\" height=\"799\" \/><figcaption  id=\"caption-attachment-239664\"class=\"text-description\">Assumption Parish Detention Center, pictured above. (Image: <em>The Advocate<\/em>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Roller Avila, 19, of Donaldsonville, La., apparently snuck out of the Assumption Parish Detention Center on Tuesday evening. He was being held on an armed robbery charge.<\/p>\n<p>Details on the escape weren&#8217;t released by the sheriff\u2019s office. The office pledges to take \u201cdisciplinary action\u201d against employees who make mistakes, <em>WAFB<\/em>, a local TV station, reported.<\/p>\n<p>Since the breakout, Avila likely fled from the area. The jail is located near Napoleonville, La.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout\">\n<p>Lonny Cavalier, commander of the Assumption Sheriff&#8217;s criminal administrative section, confirmed there was a \u201cbreach in operation protocol in maintaining the count of inmates.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cOur facility is as secure as the people who work it,\u201d Cavalier told <em>WAFB<\/em>. \u201cWe are making changes to make sure this does not happen again.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Investigation Underway<\/h2>\n<p>Sheriff Leland Falcon has undertaken \u201can investigation, and disciplinary action will be assessed accordingly to the responsible employee or employees,&#8221; Cavalier added.<\/p>\n<p>Avila is Hispanic, about 5-feet-9 and weighs approximately 125 pounds. He was one of eight suspects involved in the robbery of Louisiana\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/louisiana-cane-row-casino-holdup-leads-to-eight-arrests-investigation-continues\/\">Cane Row Truck Stop &amp; Casino<\/a> on September 29.<\/p>\n<p>Besides Avila, other suspects were identified as Jose Luis Gordillo, 18, of Gulfport, Miss., Hector Omar Barahona, 20, of New Orleans, La., and Brayon Chinchilla Pacheco, 18, of Harvey, La. Earlier arrests included Jonathan Lopez, 19, of Harvey, La., Norman D. Escalate, 18, of Terrytown, La., and an unnamed 17-year-old from Gretna, La.<\/p>\n<p>Each was charged with armed robbery with a firearm. A 16-year-old from Marrero, La., was charged with being an accessory after the fact to armed robbery with a firearm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deputies are investigating if any of the suspects are connected to other robberies, <em>The Advocate<\/em>, a Baton Rouge, La. newspaper, reported. Besides Avila, most of the other suspects are in the Assumption Parish Detention Center<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pacheo is currently in custody in Kansas, incarcerated on several unrelated charges.
