Visitors and players fled the MGM Grand<\/a> and other Las Vegas properties Saturday night after rumors erupted about an active shooter on the Las Vegas Strip. A gunshot-like noise in the area turned out to be a glass door getting struck by rocks, police said in initial reports.<\/p>\n

The threatening sound and subsequent rumors led to lockdowns at several casinos along the Strip, according to an initial report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal<\/em>. One of the casinos put on lockdown was The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the report claimed.<\/p>\n

It was at about 10 pm that a person allegedly hurled rocks at the exterior door in MGM Grand\u2019s front valet area. The suspect was \u201cimmediately\u201d apprehended, police said. He is likely to be charged with a misdemeanor for destroying hotel property, police add.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Capt. Branden Clarkson explained the \u201cpanic\u201d was caused by those \u201cthinking it was possible gunfire, given the nature of what\u2019s been happening across the nation,\u201d the Review-Journal<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n
