The soonest it is likely to reopen is reportedly Wednesday.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_213815\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-213815\" data-style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-213815\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Kayak-142x75.jpg\" alt=\"Michigan\u2019s Bay Mills Resort &amp; Casino\" width=\"1200\" height=\"630\" \/><figcaption  id=\"caption-attachment-213815\"class=\"text-description\">Michigan\u2019s Bay Mills Resort &amp; Casino, pictured above. They will not be operational for at least three to five days, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/michigan-casinos-lower-gaming-age-18-tribe-says\/\">Michigan<\/a> Upper Peninsula gaming property reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout\">\n<p>The fire was first observed at about 7 pm. It was in an information technology room on the main floor. Sprinklers were activated.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Smoke Coming from Ceiling<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cI noticed that the fire strobes were blinking in the casino,&#8221; Jack Kronemeyer, a casino IT specialist, told <em>WPBN<\/em>, a local TV station.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"main-blockquote\"><p><strong>So, I went back to my office, and \u2026 I started smelling smoke\u2026 Then, I looked up at our lights in our office, and there was smoke coming out of the ceiling.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The fire was largely extinguished by water from the sprinklers, <em>WPBN<\/em> said. Firefighters soon arrived to extinguish the rest of the fire.<\/p>\n<p>A damage estimate was not immediately available. Casino officials estimated the temporary closing will lead to the loss of thousands of dollars, <em>WPBN<\/em> said.<\/p>\n<h2>Sizable Losses Predicted<\/h2>\n<p>Casino officials were hoping this year the venue would have a comeback after the pandemic.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"main-blockquote\"><p><strong>It&#8217;s very unfortunate, and there will probably be some sizable losses as a result of this,&#8221; <\/strong>Bay Mills Casino Manager Richard LeBlanc told <em>WPBN<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>No one was injured from the fire. Some 250 guests or employees were all safely evacuated from the casino.<\/p>\n<p>But technology systems were damaged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt this moment in time, the heart of our information technology system has been severely compromised,\u201d a casino Facebook post said. Gaming, internet, phones, credit cards, reservation systems, and ATMs are among the systems not working, the casino said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We anticipate that these systems will remain down for the next 3 to 5 days, which will result in the temporary closure of Bay Mills Resort &amp; Casino,\u201d the Facebook post added.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday night, hotel guests were allowed to stay in the hotel. The Back Bay Grill served drinks and food. Hotel guests who left received a full refund. Reservations for five days from Saturday had to be canceled. The guests will be refunded their money.<\/p>\n<h2>Golf Course Open<\/h2>\n<p>Adjacent Wild Bluff Golf Course remains open for cash-paying players. Three nearby businesses, Bay Mart Gas Station, Four Seasons Market &amp; Deli, and Northern Light Cannabis Company remain open, too.<\/p>\n<p>The gaming property is located in Brimley, Mich.
