That can include replacing dollars lost in the budget due to decreased economic activity. Another option would be to use some of the funding to address the negative economic impact the coronavirus had at the state and local levels.<\/p>\n
More Vegas Visitors Gambling<\/h2>\n
The report did show some positive trends for the gaming industry.<\/p>\n
In 2019, 81 percent of people who came to Las Vegas said they gambled at some point during their stay. That\u2019s the highest that figure has been in 10 years, according to the NRA. While still below the 85 percent mark from 2008, the 2019 mark represents a substantial jump from 2016, when only 69 percent said they placed a bet.<\/p>\n
In addition, in 2019 14 percent of those surveyed by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said they came to Vegas primarily to gamble. That was up from just 7 percent the year prior.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s likely both of those figures will increase for 2020. That because there were far fewer visitors, and other activities \u2013 such as conventions and entertainment \u2013 remained closed as the casinos partially reopened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
