Hi, guys! It seems the myth of the “Elvis” House, referenced in the comments below by Martin Wes as a fact, is a pervasive one. So I finally got around to busting it in “Vegas Myths Busted,” my weekly Casino.org series.

Sometime around 1994, I was able to go into the Imperial Suite (“the Elvis Suite”) at the top of the Las Vegas Hilton (formerly The International, now the Westgate). My friend was a high-ranking executive and he got us the keys to tour ALL of the LV Hilton Suites, including the Elvis Suite. We saved the Elvis Suite for last, of course. Sadly, it was not what we expected. The suite had been closed up and not maintained for years (decades). We came to the conclusion that it had not been used since The King had died (but I can not verify that). By 1994, the suite was not fully furnished and seemed like an abandoned house where the owner walked out and left some of the belongings behind. There was really no sense that Elvis had once been there. What I remember the most was a HUGE bed (King-size times 1.5). We came to the conclusion that that was indeed Elvis’ bed and that he might have even slept in those sheets because they had to have been made bespoke for this very large bed. The biggest highlight was seeing a bullet hole in the exterior door to the elevator that went straight into the suite. The urban legend around the hotel was that the elevator door got shot by Elvis because it took too long to come up. SIDE NOTE: Earlier that same night we toured the Bugsy Siegel Suite in The California Building of the Flamingo Hilton, but that is for another post.

In junior high I visited Graceland on a field trip. In my mind he was watching us from above the staircase.

I really appreciate this Las Vegas Elvis history and can relate to a piece of it.
The statue of Elvis I saw and took a picture of when it was still the Las Vegas Hilton. In 2000, I saw The Buddy Holly Story show in that auditorium that used to be the International Hotel.

2520 Castlesands Way is a house that the International built for any of its headliners who wanted to use it, including Elvis. Since they gave Elvis his own penthouse suite, however, he never stayed there. The real estate agents in the neighborhoods all call it “The Elvis House,” though, because of course they would.

And most of all you forgot his house. Elvis had a house off eastern, 2520 castlesands way in Las Vegas. I have pictures of the inside and outside. Currently no one lives there.
