The BetMGM Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium is officially open for business in Glendale, Az.
Located on The Great Lawn outside the stadium that the Arizona Cardinals call home, the BetMGM Sportsbook is recognized as the first sports betting facility to open at an NFL venue.
The NFL allowed teams to partner with casinos and sports betting firms in the wake of the US Supreme Court decision in May 2018, giving states the right to decide whether gambling on sports is permitted. But the pro football league prohibits licensed sportsbooks from accepting bets in-person via retail facilities inside NFL stadiums.
As a result, the BetMGM Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium is located just outside the ticket gates. The 17,000-square-foot entertainment destination features a 265-square-foot video wall plus 38 other large-screen televisions. A grille and bar offer indoor and outdoor dining options.
Though BetMGM or any other licensed sportsbook in Arizona cannot physically handle a bet inside an NFL stadium, the NFL allows fans to place wagers inside a stadium on their personal mobile devices if the state allows it. Arizona’s sports betting law authorized retail in-person and internet sports wagering.
The Great Lawn at State Farm Stadium covers over eight acres and is where many fans tailgate before and after Cardinals’ games.
NFL Kickoff
The BetMGM Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium opened today in conjunction with tonight’s kickoff of the NFL’s 2022-23 regular season. The defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams are favored by 2.5 points over the visiting Buffalo Bills at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Ca.
The Cardinals begin their regular season on Sunday. Arizona plays at home against visiting Kansas City. The Chiefs are favored by six points.
BetMGM hopes Cardinals fans check out State Farm Stadium’s newest amenity this weekend and throughout the season.
The BetMGM Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium is one of the most revolutionary additions an NFL stadium has seen in decades and unlike anything fans have encountered on gamedays,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt. “BetMGM shares the Arizona Cardinals’ vision in pursuing new ways to break barriers and entertain fans.”
The sportsbook venue is equipped with a betting window staffed by on-site bookmakers, more than 25 self-service betting kiosks, and a capacity of 500 guests.
The Cardinals aren’t expected to be a playoff contender this season. The team’s over/under regular-season win total is only 8.5 wins. Arizona is at +375 to win the NFC West. The Rams are the betting front-runners at +125. The San Francisco 49ers are next at +160.
Stadium Sportsbooks
The BetMGM Sportsbook at the Cardinals’ home is one of several NFL stadium sportsbooks in the works.
The Washington Commanders are moving forward with a sportsbook project in a partnership with FanDuel for a sports betting facility outside FedExField in Landover, Md.
The Baltimore Ravens have teamed up with Caesars Entertainment to bring M&T Bank Stadium an on-site Caesars Sportsbook. Caesars operates the Horseshoe Baltimore Casino, within walking distance of M&T Bank Stadium.
