We\u2019re serving up the highlights of breakfast habits across the US as we explore where we\u2019re eating it, what\u2019s on our plates, and if we\u2019re taking that with a cup of joe on the side.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>America&#8217;s favorite fast-food breakfast is McDonald\u2019s then Chick-fil-A<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>55% of Americans skip breakfast regularly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chick-fil-A was most popular in the South with McDonald\u2019s reigning the North and West Coast<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>10% of Americans eat breakfast on the go, spending between $5 to $10 each time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>America&#8217;s favorite coffee at breakfast is filtered coffee, but losing popularity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">National fast food breakfast preferences<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The battle for the biscuit has been a tough one as McDonald\u2019s, Burger King, and Wendy\u2019s have long competed for the title of America\u2019s favorite fast food breakfast. Newcomers like Taco Bell and Chick-fil-A have quickly captured the hearts of many with their delectable options, but who takes the cake (err, <em>pan-<\/em>cake) when it comes to favorites?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_01.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"2333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_01.png\" alt=\"Fast Food Breakfast Ranked US\" class=\"wp-image-35895\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_01.png 2000w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_01-1100x1283.png 1100w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_01-480x560.png 480w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_01-840x980.png 840w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_01-420x490.png 420w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>McDonald\u2019s ranks #1 for the national average, beating the competition by a sheer number of votes. Coming in at a close second is the moo-tastic Chick-fil-A with their breakfast offerings earning them second place for the national average.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following shortly behind Chick-fil-A is Wendy\u2019s with a national ranking of #3.1 followed by Burger King at #3.44 and, finally, Taco Bell ranking #3.69 for the title of national best.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Over half of Americans skip breakfast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The trope of a heaping plate of pancakes, eggs, and bacon with a side of juice as the day-to-day turns out to be way off from reality. Forget the extravagance, the majority of Americans simply aren\u2019t having breakfast <em>at all<\/em>. But who exactly is opting in and opting out?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_02.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1801\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_02.png\" alt=\"America's Breakfast Food Habits\" class=\"wp-image-35894\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_02.png 2000w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_02-1100x991.png 1100w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_02-480x432.png 480w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_02-840x756.png 840w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_02-420x378.png 420w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The states with the highest percentage of \u201ccereal\u201d breakfast skippers include California, Massachusetts, Texas, and Washington state. On the reverse, the die-hard breakfast eaters include Florida, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Where the west coasters might skip breakfast, the northeasterners have decided it\u2019s a meal they can\u2019t do without!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cup of joe to-go? I don\u2019t think so!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>America\u2019s favorite drink is *drum roll* NOT coffee! Much to contrary belief, most Americans don\u2019t start their morning with a cup of coffee. Over half of US residents actually opt for another beverage for their first drink of the day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what are the alternatives if it\u2019s not a caffeinated brew to perk up the morning? 20% are quenching their thirst with water. Almost 15% of folks start their morning with a glass of juice. Milk and tea are left in the dust with only a 7% and 5% makeup of the remainder of the responses.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sip, sip, hooray! Which coffee beverage is America\u2019s favorite?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the respondents that do opt for coffee with breakfast, they\u2019ve certainly got their favorites. Perhaps not a surprise, a good ole\u2019 cup of filtered coffee takes the cake for first place. Lattes trail behind with a 16% hold with other caffeinated beverages like cappuccinos, and espresso grabbing only a small percentage of the vote.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_03.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1651\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_03.png\" alt=\"Breakfast Drink Preferences in the US\" class=\"wp-image-35893\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_03.png 2000w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_03-1100x908.png 1100w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_03-480x396.png 480w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_03-840x693.png 840w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/US_Breakfast_Habits_IG_03-420x347.png 420w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although filtered coffee dominates, it\u2019s slowly losing its hold as America\u2019s favorite coffee as lattes continue to grow in popularity. When we look at the data from a generational perspective, from Boomers to Gen Z, we see a 27.5% uptick between the generations. There\u2019s an undeniable trend amongst younger generations to shy away from \u201cbean water\u201d and lean towards coffees like lattes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Methodology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We surveyed 10,000 Americans in May 2023 about their breakfast habits. The age range was between 18-70 with all participants residing in the United States. Just over half \u2014 50% \u2014 were male, 47% were female, and 3% identified as non-binary or other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fair Use<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Feel free to use the data or visuals on this page for non-commercial purposes.
